About five years ago I set out to bring the principles of crowdfunding into university development departments. To be honest, it’s not vastly different from what fundraisers have always done: telling great stories. But for crowdfunding you have to tell the stories in such a way that alumni will internalise and then retell them. OK, there’s some technology involved too! And that’s how I got into this. My degree was in computer science, but I have been fundraising ever since I can remember. When you look at it that way, I was never going to do anything else…

Some I've worked with recently

  • British School of Paris
  • Emmanuel College, Cambridge
  • Guy's & St Thomas' Charity
  • Nottingham Trent University

Years of fundraising experience: 5 to 6 professionally; my entire life as a volunteer

  • Crowdfunding
  • Digital fundraising
  • University giving days
  • Regular and alumni giving
  • Project-focused giving

Before More

  • Degree in computer science at the University of Cambridge
  • Various start-ups, the craziest of which was a business importing table football tables
  • Founder and current CEO of Hubbub, a company providing crowdfunding technology – which can complement the strategic advice that I offer through More Partnership, if clients wish

Outside More

  • These days, aside from international table football tournaments (I represent the UK), I don’t have much time for anything but work and the gym
  • Proud Bristolian, but temporary resident of Bloomsbury
  • Recipient of a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellowship, which will shortly enable me to go on a fact-finding tour of the US and bring their latest best practice in digital fundraising back to the UK… watch this space.
