Marc Whitmore returns to More Partnership after four and a half successful years leading youth leadership development charity, UpRising.

With over 25 years of experience across fundraising, consultancy and leadership, Marc returns to More from his position as Chief Executive of UpRising. During his time as CEO, UpRising supported over a thousand young people with its employment and leadership development programmes. Marc led the charity through the pandemic, securing major grants which included the £1.4 million multi-partner bid to the National Lottery's Climate Action Fund for the Environmental Leadership Programme. He also drove development of UpRising’s employability and digital offerings, and the organisation’s transition to Agile project management. In Summer 2024, Marc led the team who worked closely with The Wildlife Trusts to listen to over 300 young people and Trust colleagues to understand how best to develop youth leadership potential across the federation.

Marc’s leadership experience at UpRising builds on his previous decade as Partner at More from 2010-2020, where he supported over 70 organisations to advance their great ambitions. His previous work includes St Peter's College, Oxford (£12.5m capital campaign), the University of Helsinki (to quadruple campaign performance to €100m), assessing European fundraising potential for US climate non-profit Climate Central, and the principal gifts team at the University of Oxford. With Joanna Motion, Marc co-authored When Development Drives Distinctiveness in CASE’s The Challenge of Being Distinctive.
